Book Review: Bittersweet (True North, #1)

Title: Bittersweet Author: Sarina Bowen Type: Fiction Series: Yes - Standalone Genre: Contemporary Romance Acquisition: Amazon: Free Pages: 340 Premise/Plot: Audrey is a career-driven woman working in a busy city trying to prove her worth to everyone, including her mother.  From Boston to Vermont her current assignment takes her to farm country to procure farm-to-table ingredients.  What she didn't anticipate was a flat tire and an old familiar face to help her get what she doesn't know she needs.  Griffin is a grump of a farmer, with the weight of the world on his well-sculpted shoulders, is here to help but not sell out.  Both driven by their own need to be successful, both lacking something they may just find in each other.   Rating: 4.5 Stars Sarina Bowen has put the 'sweet' in Bittersweet! A cute, contemporary story filled with emotional struggles, opportunities for personal growth, and some perfectly steamy moments between it all.  I couldn't stop reading this

Title: A Reliable Wife Author:  Robert Goolrick Type: Fiction Series: no Genre: Historical  Acquisition: Paperback from a friend Pages: 305 Premise/Plot: Set in 1909 in the frozen north that is Wisconsin, an aging 50+year old wealthy man, named Ralph Truitt, puts an ad in the paper for a Reliable Wife. Catherine a younger woman replies as honest and simple, but with her own agenda. It was not to be a reliable wife. In fact, she is both complex and devious.  Both being tortured by their pasts, they weather the storms, but who's plan comes together? The darkness rises and the snow relentlessly falls. This early 1900s story has twists and turns you never see coming. Rating: 4.25 Stars Summary: Our main characters, Ralph and Catherine, are beautifully written.  He is the wealthy businessman done wrong in a previous marriage, she is the orphaned young woman trying to keep herself off the streets, together they are what each other would need, right?  Wrong, these two are dark, tortured s

The Reader Returns

     I'm back lovelies, and the reading list is as long as ever!  A lot has happened in nearly 20 months, I got more involved in charitable giving campaigns and eventually, in late October 2019, I started streaming on Twitch. It's been a roller coaster, and much fun and excitement.  While there were ups, there have been lows as well, but if I have to rate it, overall it's been a positive take away.   What's the plan here?     I would like to dedicate more time to reading, I got away from it for a minute, but I owe it to myself to do things I love.  This includes reading all the things! A very dear friend, Sara, offered to send me a book to read after she gave it a glowing review I quickly jumped on the offer. I have since received the book  Red, White & Royal Blue  and I cannot wait to read it!  I do have a book I have to finish before I start it though, so keep your eyes open for a review very soon!
